I think it's just the neatest thing: a good friend of mine sells Christmas trees in Illinois, so to keep in touch I give him my cell phone, of which is linked to my online instant messaging account, so he's only a text message or a phone call away. With my existing cell phone service, the phone calls to my home phone are free and the phone number I was assigned is a local one to dial for me. And with the call forwarding service (*72), his home phone calls are forwarded to my cell phone number while he's down there, and because of call forwarding when busy (*90), mine are as well whenever I'm online or on the phone. And the sound is crystal clear, what more can one ask for! I'd say we've sure come a long way...

I don't know what I'd have done if I didn't grow up in the age of information technology. As I'm writing this blog post I'm watching Deal or No Deal on my Media Center PC, and working on a cover letter for a potential employer at the same time. Because of the introduction of the computer and the internet to me eleven years ago to the day, I am the person I am today. I shudder to think of what it was like without such available, instant access to information and people, and I'm sure thankful I'm living the era I do! Therefore, it's only fitting that I blog about my appreciation for technology on Thanksgiving day. Happy Thanksgiving!
